• idea of crowd-sourced and personal knowledge graph
    • global vs. indivudal mode
    • in-place link as you consume to existing knowledge repositories world vs team Trying to address problems you encounter at the point of consumption (we consume content all the time)
  • Two primary wants that arise when consuming things (presuming people are consuming to learn)
    • consuming to produce: you are consuming something and then want to use it to produce some content in the form of a thought to someone or something else or maybe you are collecting it in your internal knowledge repository to share out later
      • you find something that you want to share out and bounce around to iterate you’re thinking to enhance you’re thinking
      • in this view sharing is just another level to dive into similar to how you can dive deeper into specific topics via external sources
    • consuming to dive deeper: you want to dive deeper into a topic that you’ve encountered and don’t fully understand from the content of teh post
      • issue: posts and consumption is all linear but our thinking isn’t linear, how do we support people who don’t understand the post the way the author intends and provide affordances to help them understand
      • what if you could jump off at any point in order to dive deep on a topic you don’t understand or are interested in and come back to the main content
        • is this going against the fundamental assumption of linear content though? what problems does this introduce? how do you prevent people from going down limitless rabbit hole? start doing, don’t prematurely optimize
        • how do you design and encourage productive digging
    • both of these are actually just diff reprensetations fo external sources
      • could have external source as twitter
    • maybe simple version is just being able to pop sidebar that fills in context for links in the article that you are viewing and allowing showing content/context side by side maybe merge this with global communication platform? A lot of noise in traditional search. You either search everything or search by “source” (where you found it like twitter or your notes) ^V_3MoFQJv
  • why do we have to do these arbitrary bookmark filters instead of looking by content? What if we could specify what kinds of sources we want our information to come from? ^1Em6wpy_j
    • how do you still get exposed to new information that you normally wouldn’t be exposed to? some way to automatically surface info you wouldn’t normally see ^lgcXpp6RR
