how desire clings to a dead body this knot strung in my stomach this paper ball crumpled in my navel this wedge between rock and ocean a smiling face battered and bruised.
i love feeling like my inside’s going to explode how the pain of want engulfs my core wishes rising as black columns or smoke leaking from every bodily doorway, my obsidian pupils, my ear tunnels, the stars dotting the canvas of my skin.
i love how desire can make you hate, how it injects lunacy into your blood, your very cells rippling and wide-eyed off lust, a genetic need for wanting to chase.
Seeking the answers to the universe or the meaning of a cryptic text, hiding behind analysis and reason gripping onto an eagle in flight
its talons clasped in your spine.
