all it takes a sideways glance crossing the street, is all it takes to cause a terrifying maelstrom of indignant raindrops, repurposed wildflowers, and judgmental gusts that sentence reason to a life in prison.

a little twinkle in the eye admiring the sky, is all it takes to cause me to question reality. did a star really land in the iris of her eye and offer a sly wink before shooting off to another, or was it my restless imagination?

a small wrinkle of the lips considering a question, is all it takes to give me the most twisted curse, the most joyous blessing, a two-faced sword. one side wailing, foaming at the mouth, a hideous face; the other, singing, dripping with honey, a smooth palm.

and in between, reflected through my softened eyes, lights dance across a tiny world, a seed I reach to take.

    • i think i want to capture the feeling of infatuation for a crush and the tempered caution of approaching that
    • i want the poem to feel like im holding back—like i want to be careful approaching this, but am feeling all of the feelz
