Summary

  • revisit this 🛫 2022-12-01 what about just being able to put your fingerprint everywhere in this communal canvas and they fade over time but you can always revisit the ghosts of cursors past or see random ghosts drawing?

it’s sort of an organic transmission. like a virus. you can catch history from people who have history. If you want permanent history you can just have a server be a permanent “watcher”

  • The nice part about this is the safety of transmission… There’s an inherent barrier to people knowing the history in that they have to be on at the same time as someone else.
    • could even have more consent around how much history you want to pass out when someone new connects?
  • default “history” — if no history in indexedDB, could seed with some initial fingerprint. Eventually you build up a fingerprint of visits to this site combined with all the other people who were on at the same time
    • layered, pluriversal fingerprints…
    • design your own fingerprint and then whenever you come it automatically does a fingerprint for you.
    • you can always redo the fingerprint if you want

3.1/

i also made a lil experiment in this vein. There’s persistent local storage to draw your own digital fingerprint, and everyone “on” at the same time starts sharing history… it reimagines history as a virus
