My general theory of social apps is that they compete on the basis of their network structures, rather than their content formats. The network structure—who sees what—is usually the main driver of value. Plus, it’s easy to copy a format (e.g. Stories), but a network structure is much more defensible.

- dispo feels like best parts of instagram and tumblr and reddit, the raw authentic feel. Captures the casual friend vibes so well

- futureland is like this, very little pressure to post but also feels more real and raw and authentic
- low-pressure way to share without hijacking attention, async vs. synchronous communication
